'We think Jack's books are fantastic!'
‘Jack came to us about 5 years ago and he was brilliant, the children loved his books and it was a very successful venture for all. The children absolutely loved Jack’s presentation last time around and we look forward to welcoming him back to Skyswood. We think Jack's books are fantastic! Bob Bridle, Headteacher Skyswood Primary School |

'We have been inspired by the Thirteen Things series and the British Museum project.'
'We have been inspired by the Thirteen Things series and the British Museum project and will be focussing our history curriculum in the Autumn term around an object from the past. Each year group will have a different object to study from their focus era such as Romans or Egyptians and will create a "story" for that object, as well as learning more practically what the significance of the object was at the time.' Claire Russell, Head of School Notley Green Primary School |

'Jack's books are constantly being taken out of the library and the children are already looking forward eagerly to the next instalment of the adventures in Kernowland'
'The children were really entertained by Jack’s presentation, and particularly enjoyed all the pictures of the strange creatures, such as the dogspider. Months after the event, they still remember what they learned from the lively question and answer session. Jack’s books are constantly being taken out of the library and children are already looking forward eagerly to the next instalment of the adventures in Kernowland. It was a real success – and the teachers very much appreciated how smoothly it went.'

'A modern classic!'
Jack Trelawny presented his book to my sons school. The story and interactive introduction inspired both my children to request signed copies. My eldest told me exactly where to go and at what time! Considering he has problems with his memory, this is no mean feat! I might also add that he is a reluctant reader and very few books capture his attention. My 7 year old ASD child who cant read was also taken by the book and even though he usually throws books away in frustration, he really treasures this one. i have read this book with my children and its brilliant. Not just the story which is an adventure set in Cornwall but the text, the layout of the book, the colour of the pages and the length of each chapter. These points may not seem important to some but those parents who have reluctant readers or those with dyslexia, irlen syndrome, ASD etc will appreciate how important these are. If you want to buy a child a gift then make it this one! Note the author: Thank you! See original review: Amazon Customer Reviews |
KERNOWLAND 1 THE CRYSTAL POOL (SIGNED COPIES)
'It has been great to see the children clutching their copy of (Kernowland) The Crystal Pool'
'Just thanking you once again for your talk last Wednesday. It has been great to see the children clutching their copy of The Crystal Pool and taking it out to play to read and hearing the conversations between the children. Exactly what a reading school should look and sound like.' Hilary Tyreman, Teacher, Pensans Primary School |
'Lots of children have already finished book 1, and are racing through book 2'
'Thanks so much for organising the visit. Jack's show created a brilliant buzz around the school. Lots of the children have already finished book 1, and are racing through book 2 - and it's only three days since the visit!' Tracey Whittington, Deputy Head & Literacy Co-ordinator Beam Primary School |
'I think they (the Kernowland books) are excellent'
'Dear Mr Trelawny, I wrote to you with my comments after having read The Crystal Pool. Now that I have finished Darkness Day, I felt I should write again and congratulate you... There are so many things about your books that strike me as reader-friendly, from the size and shape, accessible style, short chapters with relevant headings, choice of vocabulary, plenty of action, humour, things to make the reader think ... I could go on, but won't. Suffice to say that I think they are excellent.' Mrs E. Tackley, Teacher (of dyslexic children) |
KERNOWLAND 4 PIGLEG'S REVENGE (SIGNED COPIES)
'The children are eager for the 4th (Kernowland) book to be published'
'Thank you very much for your visit to the school. The children were spellbound by all that you said and showed them. They've spoken about it every day since then. Following on from one of your suggestions, for homework they drew pictures of their own imaginary creatures. My class have now taken this one step further and begun to write their own stories based around the lives of their creatures. Please find enclosed some thank you letters from the children in my class. The morning was a great success and thank you once again for coming into the school and inspiring the children to read and write their own stories. The children are eager for the 4th book to be published.' Alison Saggers, Teacher, Theydon Bois Primary School |

'The year six boys haven't taken their noses out of the books yet!'
‘Just a quick email to say how wonderful our session with Jack was on 10th Nov!! The children have been so excited ever since - the year six boys haven't taken their noses out of the books yet! Jack was so motivational, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session and are really keen to try out some of Jack's ideas in their own writing. The staff were thrilled too. We are really keen to have him back to work with our children again and would recommend him without reservation to any school you would like to refer to us. '...many of the children have developed a passion for reading since Jack's last visit'
PRESS RELEASE: Great St. Mary’s Church - Spellbrook Primary School
'On Wednesday 3 October, Emerald and Diamond classes at Spellbrook Primary School were lucky enough to have a visit from the noted children’s author Jack Trelawny. He came to inspire the children about his Kernowland stories and share his ideas about how he started writing about the characters and settings. The staff at Spellbrook have been impressed by how many of the children have developed a passion for reading since Jack’s last visit 2 years ago and hope as a result of his visit today the love of reading will continue throughout the school long into the future. Deputy Headteacher Mrs Gill Vise explained the visit as being part of the church school’s mission to enrich and extend the curriculum. Certainly the benefits can be seen in the writing the children are currently producing.'

'Bringing mystery and fantasy into the picture really helps bring the topic alive'
'Some of our pupils are currently reading the books in class and it was fascinating to hear about them from the author. Not only does this help our literacy classes, we are also doing a topic called 'sharing our world' which looks at Cornwall and how it relates to the rest of the world. Bringing mystery and fantasy into the picture really helps to bring the topic alive.'
